Talking about Facebook, headhunters currently have no way to access your data. That is unless you install a special application that basically tells everyone that you'll be interested in headhunters accessing your data.

Funny bit is installed applications are visible to everyone. So everyone (yes, and your manager who is on your facebook) will know that you have installed a jobseeking application.

With added 3rd party applications Facebook can be turned into anything you'd want it to be. Even into a job search engine:

JobSite is already on Facebook with their JobMatch engine:

http://www.facebook.com/apps/application.php?id=17851958312

Whether or not to use it, it's entirely up to you, but if you want to use Facebook for a job search, the tools are there, all ready.

"Using social networking tools like LinkedIn or Facebook they can perform searches for expertise their clients are after"??

I thought there was a major difference between facebook and linkedIn: one for social whereabouts and the other one for professional contacts (someone I need for something else than drinking and/or kissing...).

I'd rather keep my social network and my professional network separate as in real life. and I hope headhunters will stay away from facebook!
